LIMOUSIN (LIMOUSINE) BEEF CATTLE BREED

The Limousin cattle breed gets its name from a region in France (Limousin), where local breeders developed it in the mid-18th century.

These animals thrive in cold weather and various weather conditions and quickly adapt to different latitudes. They are highly prolific and adaptable to their environment, even on mountain pastures with low vegetation. They have a high meat yield (up to 70%), which sets the Limousin breed apart and makes it popular worldwide. The meat from these animals is tender, lean, and has high flavor qualities.

BREED STANDARD
Color varies from light red to brown
Body structure harmonious, slightly elongated body, strong limbs. The head is small, the neck is short. The back is wide, flat, with well-developed muscles. The hindquarters are well developed, with full thighs
Live weight in cows reaches 640 kg, in bulls – 1000-1100 kg
Height at the withers in cows is 130-135, in bulls – 137-148 cm

Early maturing breeds, Limousins, naturally produce young, but mature, medium-weight beef that is required by supermarkets and for consumption.

Limousins guarantee excellent productivity at a low cost. Bulls are extremely fertile, and their good conformation is passed on to all offspring, regardless of how they are bred, while their lighter frame ensures ease of calving.

The animals are characterized by exceptional hardiness and do not require special conditions for maintenance.
